New Canaan Softball Upended, 15-2 New Canaan Softball Upended, 15-2 New Canaan Softball Upended, 15-2
New Canaan Softball Upended, 15-2 New Canaan softball coach Danielle Simoneau is eager to turn the page after Monday's 15-2 loss to Stamford. The Rams surrendered 22 hits, made three errors, mishandled several other plays and looked anything like the team that started the season 6-0. "When you're 6-0, there's a target on your back,'' said Simoneau, the team's first-year coach. "I'm glad it happened now rather than have it in the FCIAC tournament." Stamford set the tone in the second inning. The Black Knights sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs, all of them coming with two out. Two errors helped doom the Rams…
Stamford Softball Socks New Canaan Stamford Softball Socks New Canaan Stamford Softball Socks New Canaan
Stamford Softball Socks New Canaan Stamford softball coach Tony Esposito is as curious as anyone. Are the Black Knights the team that cracked 22 hits in Monday's 15-2 win over previously unbeaten New Canaan? Or is it the team that managed just three hits in Friday's 3-0 loss to Danbury? "I don't know,'' Esposito said after the Black Knights improved to 6-1 with Monday's win at Waveny Park. "I think we'll know after about 10 more games." Krista Robustelli led Monday's hit parade with four hits, four RBIs and two runs scored. Her two-run single in the first inning opened the floodgates for an eight-run frame. Lindsay Yanicky a…

Greens Farms Stuns King with 4 in 7th The Greens Farms Academy softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday to defeat King, 9-8, and remain undefeated. Excellent defensive plays by sophomore Sarah Young and senior captains Alexa Sullivan and Idalia Friedson kept the game close throughout. The defensive highlight of the game was a diving tag by Friedson to complete a double play off an assist from Young in center field in the bottom of the fourth.
