Ossining High School Senior Recognized For Astrophysics Research OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining High School senior Cen Chen has received an Acorda Scientific Excellence Award for her research on an alternative method for measuring activity in distant galaxies. The award recognizes students in Westchester and Putnam counties and in Fairfield County, Conn., who are performing “highly significant and innovative scientific, technical, engineering and mathematical (STEM) research," said the announcement. Hopewell Junction Route 82 Bridge Closed To November, Detour Set HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y -- The bridge on State Route 82 over Spout Creek near All Angels Hill Road will be closed for construction until November, according to New York Department of Transportation. There will be e detour to direct travelers to take Route 52 and County Route 31 (Palen Road) as a bypass of Route 82 during the construction, the announcement said. Sewage Agreement Reached Between Bridgeport And Trumbull BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport City Council agreed Monday to let Trumbull continue its use of Bridgeport's sewer system and one of its pair of sewage treatment plants, according to the Connecticut Post.The agreement is for ten years and instantly lessens the 13.5 percent discount residents of Trumbull had to 8 percent, then 1 percent per year after that, said the Connecticut Post. Orangetown Police Charge Pearl River Woman In Stabbing PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- A woman allegedly stabbed a man in a domestic attack Tuesday morning in the Pearl River area, according to the Orangetown Police Department. Officers responded at 6:42 a.m. to the scene and ascertained that the accused, Deborah Baranello, 59, of Pearl River had been in a dispute with a male when she pulled a large kitchen knife on him and stabbed at him, causing a laceration to his hand and a puncture wound to his stomach, police said.
