Sedan Overturns Outside Haworth School
A 24-year-old driver from Cresskill refused medical attention Friday afternoon after his sedan struck a parked vehicle and rolled outside Haworth Public School. Officer Kevin McKeary was directing traffic when he saw the Subaru sedan head west on Haworth Avenue through the Valley Road intersection, hit the Subaru SUV and land on its roof, Lt. Justin Fox said. McKeary rushed over and assisted the driver, Fox said. UPDATE: Two young children were being cared for after authorities found their parents dead in their Rochelle Park home on Saturday. The bodies of Mandy Staples, 35, and her ex-husband Marcos Gagnon, 43, who'd been living in Atlantic County, were found on the second floor of their Schlosser Drive home around 11 a.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. The children -- ages 5 and 6 -- were found unharmed in the home and were being cared for, responders said. Roselle Park Crossing Guards, Police Officer Assaulted By Elizabeth Boy: Authorities
A 17-year-old Elizabeth boy was arrested for assaulting a pair of Roselle Park crossing guards and a police officer, authorities said. One guard was found with a gash on his head and a second reported being pushed to the ground from behind on Chestnut Street around 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 17, Borough Police Chief Daniel J. McAffery said. Boy Takes Fatal Leap From Fort Lee High Rise
A boy leapt to his death Tuesday night from a high-rise building in Fort Lee, authorities said. Officers and Fort Lee paramedics found the boy lying unresponsive on the ground outside of at 1600 Center Ave., around 10 p.m., borough police chief Matthew J. Hintze said. Lifesaving efforts and CPR were unsuccessful and the boy, believed to be 16, was pronounced dead. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.

A violent New Milford ex-con sexually and physically assaulted a woman -- holding her against her will and threatening to kill her -- before she managed to escape, authorities said. Leaking household cleaners created enough of a problem to bring responders to a Dumont home, authorities said. Borough police, firefighters and the Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the Prospect Avenue home along with a Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit late Sunday morning, Mayor Andrew LaBruno said. Van Hits Wood-Ridge School
A van slammed into the back of a Wood-Ridge public school Tuesday afternoon. No serious injuries were reported after the van plowed through a fence, knocked down a sign and struck the rear of the Intermediate School in the parking lot off North Avenue between 1st and 2nd streets around 4:30 p.m. The school apparently was unoccupied at the time. A 65-year-old driver was hospitalized with back and neck injuries Tuesday after rolling his sedan near the Bergen/Rockland border. The driver got out under his own steam following the crash outside the Northvale Square Shopping Center on Livingston Street, barely 100 yards from the New York State line. : Knife-Wielding Gang Of Bergen Convenience Store Robbers Strikes Again
A group of knife-wielding thugs who’ve been robbing convenience stores in Bergen County apparently struck again, authorities said. The clerk at the Route 46 7-Eleven clerk in Elmwood Park told police the gang of four robbed the store of $400, 19 packs of Newports and rolling papers shortly after midnight Friday. The clerk said he was on the phone when one of them, brandishing a knife, walked around the counter and demanded he open the register.
