GameStop is shuttering dozens of locations across New York State in early 2026, with multiple stores in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and Long Island among those slated to close.
The closures were announced over the first weekend of the year, Polygon reported.

At 11:58 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 1, troopers responded to Route 23 south in Montague Township, when a Audi SUV driven by Nazar Bilous was negotiating a curve when it ran off the roadway to right, struck a large rock, re-entered the roadway, ran off the roadway to the right again, and struck a large tree stump and a tree, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesperson for the New Jersey State police said.
