Police ID New Haven Woman Killed By Driver Who Ran Red Light: Police
A Connecticut woman was killed after being struck by a car in downtown New Haven overnight, police said.
Mary Claire Hartman, 56, of New Haven, was hit shortly after midnight Saturday, Aug. 16, at Chapel and Temple streets, police said.
She suffered severe injuries when a car struck her as she crossed the street on foot. Paramedics rushed her to Yale New Haven Hospital, where she later died, police said.
Surveillance video showed the vehicle that hit Hartman ran a red light before the crash, police said. The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene.

A 32-year-old man was killed in a high-speed crash in the Hudson Valley Friday, Aug. 15, police said.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., troopers out of State Police Montgomery responded to a one-car collision on State Route 416 in the village of Montgomery where they say Ryan D. Tucker, of Bloomingburg, had been heading west at a high rate of speed.
Tucker, in a 2016 Honda, failed to negotiate a right-hand turn through a yield sign onto Union Avenue, where it subsequently struck several trees off the west shoulder, state police said.

Speed was a factor in a three-vehicle crash that killed a 19-year-old Denver man in Ephrata Township, Ephrata police announced on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
The collision happened on the 200 block of Martindale Road between Newswanger Road and the Ephrata Township line around 4:55 p.m., according to police.
