Doubling Back Does In Car Burglar, South Hackensack Police Say
Returning to the scene got a career car burglar caught by a South Hackensack police detective, authorities said. Detective Brian Kropp reviewed home surveillance footage after a car was broken into and an iPad and pair of Chanel sunglasses were stolen, Capt. Robert Kaiser said Monday. Kropp worked the case and, with help from Hackensack police, arrested 58-year-old Kevin Gresham of Hackensack. On Friday night, Gresham returned to the same street and was arrested, Kaiser said. The epidemic of Bergen County vehicle thefts and car burglaries hit Waldwick hard overnight Friday – with three stolen and at least 15 reportedly burglarized by an organized crew in the span of an hour, authorities said. Anywhere from three to five bandits targeted vehicles parked west of Crescent Avenue between 2 and 3 a.m., Lt. Thomas Dowling said. Police are warning residents to lock their vehicles after a car burglary that matches a string of others across the area. A Mahwah ex-con with a 25-year criminal history was arrested in Secaucus by police who said they found him with a woman’s purse stolen during a pair of car burglaries. Only just released from state prison six months ago, 45-year-old Christopher Murano was caught with the goods just before 1 a.m. last Tuesday, Secaucus police said. Do you know him or his car? If so, the Connecticut State Police are looking for the man in connection with a stolen vehicle and a car burglary, according to Trooper Kelly Grant. State police received word of the car burglary early Thursday when a resident called to report a purse in the roadway in from of a home on Scuppo Road in Waterbury, Grant said.
