Social Worker Pays $145,855 To Settle False Claims Allegations
A social worker in Connecticut has agreed to pay nearly $150,000 after billing Medicaid for psychotherapy services that were provided by unlicensed individuals. Cheshire resident Patricia McAlinden, who owns a private practice in Connecticut, has entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal and state government to pay $145,855 to resolve claims that she violated False Claims Acts. Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash That Leads To Hours-Long I-91 Closure
A 27-year old woman was killed in a head-on collision while driving the wrong way overnight on northbound I-91. Katherine Gavidia of Hamden was killed just before midnight Thursday near Exit 8 in New Haven, said Connecticut State Police. An accident report provided by the state police said Gavidia was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu south when she drove head-on into a Chevy Silverado driven by Thomas Murray, 29, of Cheshire. A woman found dead shortly after she was reported missing has been identified as a much-beloved teacher at Cheshire High School. Megumi Yamamoto, 48, the head of the school’s English Department, was reported missing Wednesday around 5:17 p.m. to Cheshire police in the area of Mixville Road by Marion Avenue, said the state police. Eversource Launches $80M Tree Trimming Project
Eversource has invested $80 million in tree-trimming projects across 4,000 miles of electric lines in Connecticut this year.
