Burglar Attacks 2 Women Inside Elmont Home, Police Say
A Queens man is accused of breaking into a Long Island home, attacking two women with a knife, and demanding money.
The incident happened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at an Elmont residence on Waldorf Avenue, according to Nassau County Police.
Two women, ages 29 and 70, discovered an unknown man inside their home after he entered through a window. The suspect allegedly demanded money and then attacked both women with a knife.
During the struggle, both victims sustained lacerations before a 29-year-old male resident intervened and managed to disarm the intruder, police said.

A 12-year-old girl fled to a friend’s home with bruises, cuts, and a black eye after enduring more than a year of alleged abuse in Cleona, Lebanon County detectives announced on Monday, Sept. 22.
The girl told investigators that her mother’s boyfriend, Reagan Thach, repeatedly beat her with objects including a curtain rod, lamp, and phone charger cord, and forced her to write “sets” of phrases for hours, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Fairview Firefighter Who Slammed Ex To Floor, Hit Her Gets Probation, DA Says
A Westchester firefighter convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend in a violent domestic attack has been sentenced, prosecutors announced.
Joseph Apostoli, 46, of the Fairview Fire Department in Greenburgh, received three years of probation with domestic violence conditions on Monday, Sept. 15, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
The DA’s Office had sought a period of “shock probation,” which would have included jail time, but Judge James McCarty denied the request.
