East Orange Lotto Player Has Happy Friday The 13th
Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky day for three North Jersey lottery players.
Three lottery tickets, sold in Union County, Essex County and Hudson County, respectively, matched four numbers and the gold Megaball in the drawing held on Friday, Dec. 13.
The tickets were sold out EZ Quick Food Store in Elizabeth, Sajoma Supermarket in East Orange and Lotto Com in Jersey City. The winning numbers were 36, 43, 52, 58, 65 and the gold Megaball was 16.
18-Year-Old, Two Juveniles Arrested For Fatal Newark Shooting: Police
An 18-year-old Newark resident and two juveniles were arrested on Thursday, Dec. 5 for a fatal shooting on Sunday, Dec. 1, authorities said.
Wes Thalerand, an 18-year-old Elizabeth resident, was shot and killed while seated in his vehicle at the intersection of Mapes Terrace and Huntington Terrace, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
Zaire Kelly and the two juveniles were charged with murder in the first degree, felony murder, robbery and weapons offenses, Stephens and Miranda said.
Trump Nominates Elizabeth's Charles Kushner For Ambassador To France
President-elect Donald Trump has named New Jersey's Charles Kushner to serve as the United States Ambassador to France, he announced Saturday, Nov. 30.
Kushner, 70, an Elizabeth native, is the father of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and was pardoned by Trump in 2020, having been convicted years earlier of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering.
Trump announced the nomination on social media, calling Kushner "a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, and dealmaker" who will "strongly advocate for our country and its interests."

Man Tied To Paramus, River Edge Burglary Spree Arrested, Prosecutor Says
An Elizabeth man has been charged in connection to a series of residential burglaries across Bergen County, authorities said Monday, Nov. 25.
Jonnathan Diaz-Gomez, 42, was arrested following a months-long investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Paramus Police Department, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
