Bob Ziter, Founder Of Watervliet’s Beloved Bob’s Diner, Dies At 75
Bob Ziter, the longtime owner and founder of Bob’s Diner in Watervliet — a 24-hour staple known for comfort food and community — has died at age 75.
Ziter died Friday, Feb. 13, at Samaritan Hospital, according to his obituary. The diner he opened in 1979 shared news of his passing in a heartfelt Facebook post Saturday, calling him “the heart and owner of Bob’s Diner.”
“For decades, Bob kept this little retro diner by the train tracks running steadily,” the restaurant wrote. “Though Bob is no longer with us, his name will always shine on the sign out front.”
