: 2 Dead In New Year's Eve Butler Blaze
Two people died in a New Year's Eve house fire in Butler, authorities said. A 74-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with severe burns sustained in the Myrtle Avenue blaze, which broke out shortly before 5 p.m., responders said. It was believed that his 72-year-old wife perished at the scene. Two firefighters were taken to the hospital with injuries that didn't appear life-threatening, responders said. The two-alarm blaze was declared under control around 6:30 p.m. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office didn't disclose further information.

'Inseparable' Couple Dies In Butler New Year's Eve Blaze
Anna and Richard Ryczek of Butler were inseparable. “They had a son,” neighbor Pier Rondin said. “I heard that the house was the only possession the old couple had to pass on to him.” Their Myrtle Avenue house went up in flames on New Year’s Eve, claiming both of the lives. A 64-year-old resident was killed in a fire in a Parsippany garden apartment Sunday afternoon, responders said. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. A firefighter refused medical attention for a cut sustained battling the first-floor Rutgers Lane blaze, which broke out in the Rutgers Village Apartment Complex just after 12:30 p.m. and severely damaged two units, they said. A fire broke out at a commercial building in Norwalk overnight. The fire in the single-story structure at 108 Connecticut Ave., began around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, Deputy Chief Edward Prescott of the Norwalk Fire Department said. The blaze, reported around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, happened on the first floor of the structure on Spruce Street in Mamaroneck.
