A fire on Thursday, Jan. 2 hit home for Ralph Parlapiano, a firefighter in New Providence for 46 years, including a decade as chief.
Parlapiano's home was ravaged by a fire, destroying everything he owns and killing his dog, Breeze, according to a fundraiser.
At 3:28 p.m., firefighters responded to his home and found a heavy fire in the basement and first floor, New Providence Fire Department said. A second alarm was transmitted, bringing in additional support, firefighters said

Car Fire Leaps Onto Westport Home Causing Major Damage To Garage
A car fire in Connecticut spread to a home this weekend, causing heavy damage to the vehicle and house, authorities said.
Firefighters were called to the vehicle fire on Sturges Highway in Westport around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4. When crews arrived, they were unable to prevent the flames from spreading to the home, forcing a call for backup, officials said.
Flames licked at the garage before making the leap to burn away the frame as crews put it out.

Robesonia Man Killed In Skid Loader Accident At Lebanon County Business (Update)
A worker for a Lebanon County construction company was killed in a skid loader accident on Friday, Jan. 3, police said.
The victim has been identified as Clinton Devon Martin, 34, of Robesonia, Millcreek Township Police in a news release.
Martin, a six-year employee of TLS Equipment LLC, was found pinned under the elevated arms of a skid loader by coworkers at the business on the 100 block of Stricklerstown Loop Road in Newmanstown, police said. The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m.
