Gas Leak Temporarily Clears Neighboring Saddle Brook Homes
A gas leak in a vacant house forced the evacuation Thursday night of some neighboring homes in a Saddle Brook neighborhood. Residents were "advised it was safe to return to their homes" a short time after the leak was reported in the Colonial Avenue home near the Helen Smith school, Police Chief Robert Kugler said. Police secured the scene and were joined by firefighters and EMS workers, the chief said. A PSE&G crew tended to the leak once firefighters gained entry, he said.

Westchester Elementary School Evacuated For Gas Smell
A Westchester elementary school had to be temporarily evacuated when the smell of gas was reported in the area. Colonial Elementary School in Pelham was evacuated as a precaution at approximately noon on Friday, Sept. 27, when there was reports of the smell of gas near the building. Members from the Pelham Fire Department, Pelham Police Department and Con Edison all responded to the scene to investigate the gas odor. Wyckoff Homes Evacuated In Gas Leak
Five Wyckoff homes were temporarily evacuated Wednesday after a gas line ruptured, authorities said. A PSE&G crew was removing an old gas meter at a home on Wild Duck Road -- a cul-de-sac off Midland Avenue -- when they ruptured the line around 10 a.m., Wyckoff Police Lt. Joseph Soto said. Borough police and firefighters responded, he said. The crew capped the leak and completed the repairs, the lieutenant said. Residents were able to return before 11 a.m., he said. No injuries or property damage were reported, Soto said.

Glen Rock Homes Temporarily Evacuated, Roads Closed After Work Crew Ruptures Gas Main
Two dozen residents in the immediate area had to leave their homes after a Glen Rock DPW crew ruptured a gas line while doing work on a sidewalk ramp Wednesday morning. Officials offered shelter at Borough Hall while repairs were done at the corner of Main Street and Argyle Road following the mishap just after 9:30 a.m. Police transported several residents who didn't have vehicles, Chief Dean Ackermann said. A gas leak at a construction site temporarily closed eastbound Route 4 in Fair Lawn Tuesday morning. A contractor hit a gas mean at a building under construction between East and West Amsterdam avenues, the former site of the Spivak Lighting building, around 9:30 a.m., Sgt. Brian Metzler said. A gas leak at a Ramsey dentist's office forced the evacuations of adjacent businesses and residences while temporarily halting area traffic during the Wednesday evening rush. ShopRite of Parsippany reopened Monday after a gas leak and smokey conditions evacuated the grocery store over the weekend. Power was cut to the Arlington Plaza building just before 5 p.m., Sunday when a small fire in a second-floor compressor room caused a a refrigerator to leak, multiple media outlets said. Conditions in the store became hazy while shopping customers reported. Store officials called for an evacuation over the loud speaker shortly before police, fire and EMS officials arrived, they said. Paw-some: Dog On The Loose Sniffs Out Westchester Gas Leak
A dog on the loose in Westchester showed why the animal is “man’s best friend.” The Tuckahoe Police Department received a call at approximately 3:45 on Wednesday, Feb. 6, of a loose, barking dog on Fairview Avenue. Port Chester Gas Leak Closes Roadway As Officials Search For Source
A gas leak has closed a roadway in Port Chester as police, fire and Con Ed employees work to find the source of the leak. The fire department has been on the scene on Ellendale Avenue for more than three hours trying to locate the source of the leak that is causing a strong odor of gas in the area, said the Port Chester Police. Gas Leak Clears Half-Dozen Hawthorne Homes
Six Hawthorne homes were evacuated Saturday morning after a gas main leak. A Fire Department engine and Special Operations Unit and a PSE&G crew responded to the 9:30 a.m. 6th Avenue leak between Utter and Rea streets. No injuries were reported.
