Egg prices across the U.S. are on a downward trend, according to the USDA’s latest weekly report released Friday, March 28, 2025.
Nationally, loose, large white eggs dropped $0.26 to $3.00 per dozen. In California, prices slid by $1.13 to $6.05, and in the Midwest, the drop was even steeper at $1.20. New York’s rate held steady at $3.86 per dozen.
Still, shoppers shouldn’t expect instant relief at the register: “Wholesale price changes can take up to three weeks to be reflected in the retail dairycase,” the USDA said.

A new 24-hour-a-day supermarket is opening in the Hudson Valley, focusing on everything fresh.
The Garden Fresh Market, located in Rockland County in Spring Valley, will have its soft opening on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 26, said owner Wilson Bermeo of New City.

A new supermarket has opened for business on Long Island.
The ribbon-cutting and grand opening event for the new ShopRite in the Huntington Commons shopping center was set for 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, representatives announced.
