An Elizabeth fugitive wanted for robbing a bank and two convenience stores in New Jersey at gunpoint was captured following a high-speed stolen car chase on Route 80 in Nebraska, federal authorities said Friday. Dayshawn Brimfield, 30, was carrying evidence of his deeds when he crashed and was taken into custody by state troopers on the westbound interstate near Lincoln on April 25, NE, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip R. Ex-Uber, Lyft Driver Convicted Of Stalking 14-Year-Old Girl: Prosecutor
A 43-year-old man who formerly worked as an Uber and Lyft driver has been found guilty of stalking a 14-year-old girl, authorities said. Shyam Gurung, formerly of Jersey City, was convicted by a Monmouth County Jury of fourth-degree stalking, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey. Bullet Found Behind Central Jersey Elementary School, Authorities Say
A bullet was found outside a Central Jersey school Thursday about two months after a report of gunfire nearby, authorities said. A worker at Cove Road Elementary School in Hazlet was blowing leaves on the school grounds when the "projectile" was found, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey. Hazlet police investigated a 9-1-1 call at 10:14 p.m. on Oct. 7 reporting gunshots in the neighborhood behind Cove Road Elementary at 8 Cove Road, although nothing was found at the time, authorities said. EMS crews were called on a report of a "medical episode" in Central Jersey, authorities said. The incident occurred about 8:15 a.m. at Pine Creek Village in Hazlet, Hazlet police said. A continuing investigation into illegal use of child pornography has resulted in nine indictments this fall in Central Jersey, authorities said. A car reportedly drove into a house in Central Jersey, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. on Erin Place in Hazlet, according to initial reports. It was unclear if anyone was home at the time of the crash. Two of the cars' occupants were trapped with minor injuries, according to an unconfirmed report. Multiple Water Rescues In Central Jersey Due To Severe Flooding
Police, firefighters and EMS crews were busy rescuing stranded motorists as flood waters rose, authorities said. In Dunellen, Middlesex County, there was a report of a water rescue that required mutual aid about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. Multiple water rescues also were reported in Monmouth County, reports said. Authorities in Central Jersey said they've charged 14 suspects in connection with the possession or distribution of child pornography.
