Hit-And-Run Leaves Montauk Cyclist In ICU; Family Launches Fundraiser
A Long Island man known for his kindness and passion for cycling is fighting to recover after a hit-and-run crash left him critically injured.
Kyle Briand, of Montauk, was riding his bike on the night of Sunday, Aug. 10, when he was struck by a driver who fled the scene, his sister Amanda Corwin wrote on a GoFundMe page.
The cyclist was rushed by ambulance to Amagansett, where he was met by a medevac and flown to Stony Brook Hospital’s Trauma Center. He remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

Fatal Hit-And-Run In Selden, Damaged Car Leads To Arrest: Police
A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Selden, Suffolk County police announced on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Randolph King, 36, of Selden, was struck on College Road north of Mooney Pond Road at approximately 1:20 a.m., according to police. A passing motorist spotted debris and King lying unconscious in the roadway and called 911 at 1:23 a.m., investigators said.
King was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said.
