A report of a man sleeping in a condominium's stairwell led to a serious weapons arrest after police found him carrying an AR-15 with a loaded 60-round magazine, police said.
Lance R. Jones, 22, of Norwalk, was arrested on Thursday, April 30, after police found him asleep in the rear stairwell at Mallard's Landing Condominiums, at 97 Richards Avenue, around 6:15 p.m., authorities said.
Authorities said Jones first gave a false name. That raised concern and led officers to investigate further.

A 33-year-old Connecticut man is accused of violently beating a woman in front of her infant child, leaving her with serious injuries, police said.
Tai T. Tang, of Groton, was arrested after the Nov. 21 attack and is charged with assault, risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace, and interfering with an officer, authorities said.
Groton police were called to a reported disturbance around 5 p.m. They found the woman with "significant trauma" to her head, face, and eyes. Investigators say Tang hit her repeatedly with a closed fist.
