A juvenile was arrested and charged with attempted murder in Labor Day stabbings on a Jersey Shore beach that left two Rockland County men hospitalized in serious condition, authorities said Tuesday. Fire Destroys Waldwick Home
A Labor Day evening fire gutted a Waldwick home. Police responding to a 911 call around 10 p.m. found the 1½-story Vine Street home off West Prospect Street engulfed. No injuries were reported. Borough firefighters were joined at the scene or in coverage by colleagues from several neighboring towns. The official cause wasn't immediately determined. Boyd A. A speeding driver was arrested on Long Island after he was allegedly drunk with a child in the car during a traffic stop. Bay Shore resident Raymond Laboy was stopped just before 11:30 p.m. in Bay Shore on Thursday, Sept. 3 on Union Boulevard near the intersection of Saxon Avenue when he was clocked driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone while swerving in and out of his lane, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said. Dozens of drivers were arrested in Dutchess County during an impaired driving crackdown period over Labor Day Weekend. Two people were killed in an early morning Labor Day crash in which a car traveling at a high rate of speed struck a guard rail, light pole and tree on the Wantagh State Parkway, state police said. S. Plainfield Cancels Labor Day Parade, Explosive Devices Found Near Route
Officials in South Plainfield Monday have cancelled a Labor Day parade and other activities over what officials described only as a "security concern." Officials did not immediately provide any information about the nature of the threat.
