A sharp-eyed Mahwah resident helped police bust two alleged members of the notorious South American Theft Group (SATG) during an attempted burglary that led to a foot chase through multiple backyards, authorities said. Oscar Alvarez-Alzate, 28, and Cristian Bernal-Walles, 21, both from Queens, were arrested on the morning of Friday, March 21, after a neighbor spotted them wearing masks and backpacks and sneaking onto private property, Mahwah Police said in a release. A 40-year-old Connecticut woman died in a crash Thursday evening, Jan. 16 on Route 287 in New Jersey, authorities said. A Freightliner tractor-trailer, Honda Civic, Audi S5, and Ford F350 were heading north when he Freightliner struck the back of the Honda at approximately 5:40 p.m. near milepost 66.3 in Mahwah, New Jersey State Police Sgt.
