Metro-North Employee Who Stole $206K In Cash From White Plains Office Gets Probation
A Metro-North employee who stole more than $200,000 in public funds from a Westchester County office was sentenced to probation, prosecutors said.
Tom Shabani, 61, of Millwood, was sentenced Monday, March 9, by Judge Erin McGoey to three years of probation after pleading guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced.
Prosecutors said that between 2024 and 2025, Shabani worked as a cashier at Metro-North’s White Plains office.

23-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Lirr Train In Sayville
A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed after he was struck by a Long Island Railroad train.
According to David Steckel with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Christopher Reitzel, of Medford, was hit by LIRR Train 64 at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, west of the Sayville Train station when he was on the tracks without authorization.
EMS transported Reitzel to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, MTA said.
Following the incident, LIRR said the Montauk Branch service was suspended between Oakdale and Sayville until 12:20 p.m.

Long Island residents Kevin Moore, age 61, and Carol Moore, age 57, of Massapequa, are named in a four-count criminal complaint that was filed in US District Court in Washington, DC on Monday, May 13.
According to investigators, the couple attended then-President Donald Trump’s speech at the Ellipse that morning before making their way to the Capitol building. Along the way, Carol Moore was seen draped in a blue Trump flag.

ID Released For Person Struck, Killed By Train In Hudson Valley
Officials with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have released the identity of a man who was killed after being struck by a train in the Hudson Valley.
Paul Engel, age 67, of Manhattan, was killed in Orange County around 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17 in Scotchtown, a hamlet of the town of Wallkill.

According to the MTA, Engel was struck by a New Jersey Transit Authority train and confirmed dead at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing by the MTA Police.
