A grand jury voted not to file criminal charges against a New Jersey State Trooper who was involved in a crash that killed Frank Lando, a 65-year-old Toms River resident, authorities announced Tuesday, Aug. 12.
On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Trooper Anthony Fernandes was traveling westbound on Route 70 when he observed a speeding vehicle near Burns Mill Road in Southampton traveling eastbound, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in East Bangor Borough, the Northampton County Coroner’s Office announced on Sunday, Aug. 3.
Teddy Elphick, 54, of Pen Argyl was operating a motorcycle when it was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the 200 block of East Central Avenue in East Bangor on Saturday, Aug. 2, according to Northampton County Coroner Zachary R. Lysek.
Elphick, the sole occupant of the vehicle, died from multiple blunt force injuries, Lysek said. His manner of death was ruled accidental.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Bergen County on Friday afternoon, August 1, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 4:51 p.m. on Pascack Road in Woodcliff Lake, near the intersection of West Hill Road, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office's Deputy Chief of Detectives, Jeff Angermeyer.
