For the third straight day, Long Island has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases, though the state has seen a daily infection rate of under 1 percent for nearly four weeks.
Long Island reported:
1.4 percent infection rate on Thursday, Sept. 3,
1.1 percent on Wednesday, Sept. 2,
0.8 percent on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Statewide, there were 864 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, though the infection rate was .92 percent of 93,395 newly tested New Yorkers.

Long Island has seen a slight uptick in positive COVID-19 cases though statewide numbers continue trending in the right direction.
There have now been 44,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nassau, and 45,006 in Suffolk as each county saw less than 100 new cases in the latest numbers provided by the state Department of Health.
There have been 2,198 COVID-19 fatalities in Nassau and 2,005 in Suffolk.
On Long Island, the positive infection rate over the past three days:
Monday, Aug. 31: 1.0 percent;

Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) hospitalization, fatality, and infection rates continue to trend downward on Long Island as the region eyes the beginning phases of reopening.
With 73 new positive COVID-19 cases in Nassau County, 36,368 residents have now tested positive, while in Suffolk, there were 84 new positive tests, as the total rose to 38,411 since the outbreak began in mid-March.
