School Closures For Monday
The quick-moving overnight storm system that brought more than half a foot of snow to the area has resulted in thousands of power outages with the heavy wet snow bringing down trees and tree limbs.
Here are towns in Fairfield County with the highest amount of outages at 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 4:

Strong Winds Knock Out Power To Thousands In Fairfield County
About seven thousand customers in the area are without power as wild winds continue whipping through the region.
By late Monday morning, 4,642 of Eversource’s 1,273,665 customers in Connecticut were reporting power outages as of 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, as weather conditions downed power lines and utility poles in the area. An additional 2,477 customers of the United Illuminating Company were also reporting outages.

Man Faces New Charges In Woman's Death On Candlewood Lake
Charges were recently upgraded against an area man whose friend died after being struck by the propeller of his boat last year on Candlewood Lake.
Gary Morrone, 66, of Watertown, who was originally charged with reckless operation of a vessel, failure to help a collision victim, and failure to immediately notify law enforcement of injury for the Nov. 19, 2018 incident, has also been charged with criminally negligent homicide and reckless boating.

Storm Knocks Out Power In Fairfield County
The storm bringing drenching downpours and strong, gusty winds to the area has resulted in numerous power outages in Fairfield County on Friday morning.
United Illuminating is reporting that 1,159 are without power in Fairfield at 9:40 a.m. In addition, 55 are without power in Shelton and 12 in Trumbull.
Eversource reported the following outage totals at 9:30 a.m.: Newtown (161), Danbury (144), Stamford (67), Redding (66), New Fairfield (45), Wilton(39), Weston (14), Ridgefield (12), Westport (11), New Canaan and Norwalk (fewer than five).

Man Killed After Motorboat Capsizes In Candlewood Lake
A 48-year-old man was killed after he was dumped into Candlewood Lake in Brookfield when the 17-foot-boat he was in capsized.
Gary Hayes of East Hartford was killed around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, another man, Joseph Miranda, 29, of Manchester, survived, said Chris Collibee, spokesman for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
According to Collibee, after the boat capsized, Miranda, swam to shore to safety. Hayes was located in the water by EnCon police officers who responded to the scene. He was transported to Danbury Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
