A patron of a fried chicken joint in Newark was hospitalized with injuries suffered by a customer who she had apparently scolded for cutting the line, according to authorities and recent news reports. The man — who remains at large — assaulted the woman following a "quarrel" around 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 at Golden Wings, Fish and Fried Chicken on South Orange Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. Newark Woman Takes Fatal Leap From 4th Floor Balcony
A woman leaped to her death from a fourth-floor balcony overnight in Newark, authorities said. The victim jumped just before midnight from a balcony at 800 Franklin Ave., in an apparent suicide, Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. She was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m., Feb. 5.

Police have issued an alert for a missing 14-year-old boy from Newark. Al-Samir Williams, pictured above, was last seen in the area of Nairin Place near Vernon Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. 3-Year-Old Child Shot Inside Car In Newark, Authorities Say
A child was shot Wednesday afternoon while sitting inside a car in Newark, authorities said. The 3-year-old boy was rushed to University Hospital after being grazed by a bullet on the 200 block of Broadway around 1:15 p.m., according to initial reports and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara. He is in stable condition and is expected to survive, O'Hara said. Details surrounding the shooting were unknown as of Wednesday evening. The incident is under investigation.

Police in Newark are seeking the public's help in locating an 11-year-old girl. NJ School Counselor Brought Boy Into Office & Touched His Private Parts: Prosecutor
A 31-year-old school counselor from New Jersey has been accused of sexually assaulting a male student, authorities said. James D. Rone-Lewis brought the student into his office at Avon Avenue Elementary School in Newark on or about Oct. 21, and touched his penis, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. He was released on pretrial monitoring pending disposition of the charges. Rone-Lews was suspended without pay by the school and is barred from any contact with the victim or the school.

A woman leapt from the second floor of a burning building in Newark just before the structure collapsed Friday, authorities said.
