Authorities have released the identity of a woman who was struck and killed while walking on Interstate 87 in Westchester last week.
Mariely Chavez, age 23, was fatally struck while walking on I-87 South in Yonkers between Exits 6A and 6 on Thursday morning, July 3, New York State Police said on Monday, July 7.
No address for Chavez was given.

Allison Eichner, a U.S. citizen from Connecticut, died Wednesday, June 11, in a one-vehicle crash in the Causeway Road area of Bushmills, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
A police report indicates that a 66-year-old driver struck Eichner, a pedestrian, just before 12:30 p.m. Eichner was rushed to the hospital, where she died, and the driver was later charged with causing death by careless driving.

A beloved community leader has been identified as the woman killed when a drunk driver jumped the curb and hit two pedestrians in downtown Carlisle, police and loved ones confirmed over Memorial Day weekend.
Ellen Kievit, 73, of Carlisle, was struck and killed while walking alongside her husband, James, at the intersection of South Hanover and West Pomfret streets around 8:17 p.m. on Friday, May 23, according to Carlisle Borough Police.
Her husband remains in critical condition.

A woman was struck and killed while crossing a street in Saint James, Suffolk County police said.
Anna Lopresti, 63, of Saint James, was walking south across Middle Country Road near White Avenue when an eastbound 1999 Toyota Camry hit her around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, according to a release from the department’s Fourth Squad.
Lopresti was taken by responders to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, detectives said.
