Fiery I-87 Crash Closes Roadway, Knocks Out Power For Some Area Residents
A car struck a utility pole bursting into flames in a fiery crash on a busy stretch of the New York State Thruway. It happened in Rockland County in Montebello in the area of Airmont Road at the I-87 overpass after the vehicle slammed into the pole sparking a fire, around 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, Ramapo Police said. The Tallman fire department also responded to the scene The area had to be closed for several hours overnight, but reopened around 6:30 a.m., Monday, April 5. The crash also caused a large number of Montebello residents to lose power.

Bike Found On Side Of Roadway In Rockland
A mountain bike found on the side of the roadway in Rockland County is looking for its owner. A resident found the bike on the side of the road near the parking lot for the Ramapo Rest Stop on the New York State Thruway, said the Ramapo Police. One of two victims stabbed after a large fight broke out at an area restaurant has died from injuries suffered in the incident. The fight began in Rockland County at Oiso Restaurant, located on 587 Route 303 in Blauvelt, at around 10;50 p.m. on Saturday, March 6. Several roads are closed in Rockland County due to high winds that have knocked down trees and utility poles. A Rockland County man was killed during a two-vehicle crash in Montebello on Route 202. The crash took place around 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, when the two vehicles, one which was headed westbound and the other eastbound, collided head-on, said Ramapo Police Capt. Daniel Hyman. Police Use Narcan To Rescue Rockland Overdose Victim
A Rockland County overdose victim was saved by the quick work of a police officer who administered Narcan. The incident took place on Monday, Jan. 4, when a Ramapo Police officer responded to a call in the Village of Sloatsburg for a reported heroin overdose. Upon arrival, the officer located a 25-year-old man who was unresponsive and was not breathing, Ramapo Police said. The officer observed evidence of drug use in the immediate area of this man. Police are investigating a case where a young man fell victim to a romance scam. The woman in Rockland County told the man she was corresponding with through a dating app she needed some financial assistance with a business matter, Ramapo Police said. The woman said she would mail him a check to deposit into his bank account, and that he needed to mail back a check for a lesser amount – in essence, he was allowed to keep the difference for his trouble. Woman Loses Control Of Car, Crashes After Another Driver Passes Her Vehicle In Rockland
Police are on the scene of a crash that took place after a woman lost control of her vehicle when a driver passed her on the left-hand side, according to authorities. The woman crashed into a clump of trees on Route 306 in the Pomona section of Ramapo late Monday morning, Dec. 21, Ramapo Police said. The driver told officers another vehicle was passing her on the left and she got scared and lost control of the vehicle. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Police Seek Owner Of Dirt Bike Seized During Traffic Stop
Police in Rockland County are attempting to locate the owner of a dirt bike that was abandoned by a teen when he fled from police. Ramapo Police said the dirt bike was recovered on Wednesday, Dec. 16 when a 16-year-old Airmont teen was stopped by police for driving the unregistered vehicle. After stopping, the teen fled into the woods but was captured a short distance away. Police said there are inconsistencies regarding ownership.
