Where Are Late Rockaway Mayor's iPhone, Laptop? We May Never Know
Police have called off the investigation of late Rockaway Mayor Michael Dachisen's township-issued laptop and iPhone, which went missing after his sudden death last August. Local authorities said there is no security risk and are concentrating on more important matters, the DailyRecord reports. Councilman Jeremy Jedynak, now mayor, said the investigation was a priority being that the laptop and iPhone potentially held "sensitive information," the report says. Rockaway Police, Firefighters Hoof It To Help Fallen Horse
A horse that fell and became wedged between two trees in Rockaway received help from first responders getting back up. A woman and her friend were riding their horses along the Light Blue trail in the Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area around when one horse tumbled down about a mile in from Meriden Road around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Rockaway Police Chief Martin McPartland said. Even Bigger Walmart Coming To Roxbury's Ledgewood Mall
Walmart in Roxbury will close next month as demolition begins, making way for an even bigger Supercenter projected to open next fall, the DailyRecord reports. The pharmacy will close April 26 and transfer prescriptions to the Flanders store in Mount Olive, and the store itself will close May 10. The new 170,000-square-foot mall will be 50,000 square feet larger than the current facility, which opened in 1999, the report says. Bed Bath and Beyond is planning to close at least 40 stores to help stem losses after it lost $253.8 million in the fourth quarter last year. The home goods retailer was founded in 1971 and headquartered in Union Township. A Rockaway woman had been drinking at two bars and was using her cellphone when she got into a crash last month that killed her friend, according to a police report. : Rockaway Man With 3 Warrants Nabbed After Denville Train Station Fight
A Rockaway man with three outstanding warrants was arrested after getting into an argument at the Denville train station, said authorities who charged him. James Souto, 38, was denied a ride home from another commuter when the fight broke out around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, Denville Police Capt. Jeffrey Tucker said. Souto's three warrants were out of Cliffside Park, New Brunswick and the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, Tucker said. The ShopRite Liquors of Rockaway sold one of three winning New Jersey Lottery tickets. The tickets from Wednesday's drawing matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball drawn, winning the $50,000 third-tier prize. The winning numbers were: 21, 31, 42, 49 and 59. The Red Power Ball number was 23. The Multiplier number was 05. A Rockaway woman initially arrested on a minor drug charge is facing much more severe consequences for providing the heroin and fentanyl that killed a user, authorities said. Natalia E.
