Firefighter Hospitalized Battling 2-Alarm Blaze In Wakefield, Family Displaced A two-alarm blaze destroyed a home in Wakefield Tuesday morning and displaced a family of four. A firefighter was taken to the hospital while battling the flames as well.  The fire at 22 Jackson Lane started just after 11, the Wakefield Fire Department said, though officials did not release the cause of it. Heavy smoke billowed out of the two-story home, and flames had eaten away at the back of it when crews arrived on the scene. Vermont 45-Year-Old Killed While Crossing Route 1 In Saugus: Police A 45-year-old man from Vermont has died after being hit by a car on Route 1 in Saugus, authorities said. Carlos Vasquez, of Bennington, was crossing the street from the Burger King near the Essex Street exit when he was hit just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, Massachusetts State Police said.  Vasquez was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries where he later died, police said. Missing Saugus Senior With Dementia Found Safe: Police UPDATE: Saugus Police said Thai Tran was located safe. The Saugus Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating a missing senior with dementia who may have taken a cab from his home.  Thai Tran, age 78, was last seen near his home in the area of Eastern Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, police said.  Authorities believe Tran may have travelled to Revere then took a cab to Somerville. Massachusetts Man, 21, Dies Day After Pulled From North Shore Lake A young man who was pulled from a lake on the North Shore has died a day later, authorities said.  Maynor Salas Lopez, age 21, of Lynn, was pulled from Silver Lake in Breakheart Reservation in Saugus around 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, Massachusetts State Police said.  After performing CPR on Lopez, he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He died the next morning, police said.  Lopez was apparently swimming with his family when he started to struggle in the water, authorities said. The incident remains under investigation.
