16-Year-Old Boy Killed In Overnight Stoughton Car Crash: DA's Office
A 16-year-old boy has died in an overnight car crash in Stoughton, the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office reports. Ja’Zell Bentencourt, of Stoughton, was killed in the crash that happened on Sumner Street near the intersection with Ryan Road, the office reports. Initial investigation suggests his car drove off the road and hit a guardrail. Bentencourt, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed originally and has since reopened, the office reports. The crash remains under investigation.

The body of a 40-year-old woman found in an outbuilding in Stoughton is being treated as a homicide, the North County District Attorney announced. Stoughton officers found the body of Amber Buckner, a Stoughton resident, at an outbuilding at 743 Park Street near 5th Street Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, authorities said. Buckner had "significant injuries," prosecutor Michael Morrissey said during a press conference. He didn't go into any details about them. Two people are injured following a four-car crash outside a shopping plaza in Stoughton, authorities said. Police and fire responded to the crash near RK Plaza around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, Stoughton Police Chief Brian Holmes reports. Upon arrival, officers found four vehicles involved in the crash. A Stoughton man who pleaded guilty to using COVID-19 relief money to pay his mortgage and gave some to his wife and several other people will spend 15 months in federal prison, authorities said. Adley Bernadin, 44, pleaded guilty to a single count of wire fraud, and along with his prison term, he must forfeit $284,596, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. 37-Year-Old Woman Killed In Stoughton Rollover Wreck: Police
A 37-year-old woman died Wednesday night, Aug. 24, after she wrecked her car on Route 24 in Stoughton, authorities said. Suzete Mendes, of Hyannis, was driving in the northbound lanes around 8:30 when her 2015 Infiniti Q40 went off the right side of the road, hit the guardrail, and rolled over, Massachusetts State Police said. Paramedics rushed her to Good Samaritan Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. No one else was injured. Police are investigating what caused Mendez to drive off the road and crash.

Person Accidentally Shoots Themself Outside Stoughton Target: Police
One person is in the hospital after they appeared to accidentally shoot themself outside the Target in Stoughton, authorities said. Police responded to a call of a person shot in the parking lot of the store at 1 Hawes Way around 6:46 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, Stoughton Police said. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The firearm was later taken by police and the incident remains under investigation.
