The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 11 a.m. on Wednesday through 10 p.m. Thursday, July 18, warning that heat index values could soar to 100 degrees in parts of:
Rockland, Westchester, Orange, and Putnam counties;

A Brooklyn man was seriously injured after being struck in a hit-and-run crash in Melville, Suffolk County police announced on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
Nadil Ceka, 58, was standing on the shoulder of southbound Bagatelle Road, just south of Dix Woods Drive, while checking on a disabled vehicle around 1:10 p.m. when he was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene, according to the release.
