A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle along a busy Virginia roadway, police said on Wednesday, as detectives continue working to determine exactly what happened.
Officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were called shortly before 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, to the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Old Plains Road in the Fair Oaks area, according to the agency.
Upon arrival, they found a man unresponsive lying in the grass median, police said.

The son of Lancaster County’s coroner was killed after crashing into a tree near an elementary school in Manheim Township on Wednesday morning, Sept. 10, 2025, Dauphin County officials announced on Thursday, Sept. 11.
William Diamantoni, 19, of Lititz, was identified as the driver killed in the single-vehicle crash, according to Dauphin County officials.
The wreck happened in the 500 block of Snyder Road near Bluestone Drive, close to Reidenbaugh Elementary School, at around 8:32 a.m., Manheim Township Police said.

Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Tractor-Trailer On Bethel Roadway
A man was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer while walking along a Hudson Valley roadway.
The Sullivan County incident happened in the town of Bethel, on State Route 17B, at around 5:45 a.m. Thursday, May 8.
Brett Stevens, 30, was walking in the roadway near Happy Avenue when he was struck by a tractor-trailer, New York State Police said. Stevens, of Bethel, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, a 64-year-old man from Waterbury, Connecticut, was not injured.

Pedestrian Dies Days After Being Struck By Vehicle: Princeton Police
A 74-year-old man died on Friday, March 14, days after he was struck by a vehicle in Princeton, authorities said.
At 3:44 p.m., a 17-year-old was driving a 2012 gray Honda Odyssey when it struck the man, later identified as Hin Chin, while the vehicle was making a left turn, Princeton police said. The man sustained a head injury, police said.
Chin was airlifted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, police said, and a landing zone was created at Princeton High School.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
