A New Jersey man was killed in a violent crash involving a tractor trailer and several cars on the PA Turnpike Friday, July 29, authorities said (scroll for photos). The crash occurred on the Northeast Extension in Carbon County 5:45 p.m. near Mahoning Valley Exit #74. Photos show the tractor's cab and trailer stretched across both sides of the median. A 26-year-old woman was charged after police said she struck a Connecticut State Police trooper and a patrol vehicle with her car while fleeing from police. Troopers in Tolland County responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Cindy Road in Ellington at about 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 17, according to Connecticut State Police. A man from the region was arrested for driving drunk after hitting a parked car and then slamming into a barn. The incident took place in Monroe County in Rochester around 11:40 p.m., Wednesday, May 4 on Washington Street. Sullivan County resident Matthew Goldsmith, age 31, of Kauneonga Lake, was arrested after he allegedly drove his GMC pickup truck through an intersection and into a driveway, said Lt. A police officer and a driver were hospitalized after a car struck two police cruisers in Connecticut, causing one to hit the officer. The crash happened at the Norwalk Green on Wednesday, April 20. An officer was responding to a crash where a car struck a tree and fled the scene, when another car struck the police cruisers, causing them to move, according to the Norwalk Police Department. A 17-year-old driver escaped injury when her Jeep knocked down a traffic light and damaged a junction box in Waldwick, authorities said. The borough driver's vehicle came to rest in a wooded area off the corner of Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, March 6, Police Chief Mark F. Messner said. A female passenger was hospitalized after Ridgewood firefighters extricated her from a minivan that collided with a Honda Civic sedan Sunday night. Two men are facing charges for allegedly driving drunk in the area, one of whom struck a New York State Police trooper in the Hudson Valley, authorities announced. Police are investigating after two vehicles were damaged by gunfire while traveling on a Connecticut highway. A Glen Rock resident who left an SUV unlocked – with the keys inside – got it back in much different shape, authorities said.
