A woman from the region is facing years in prison after confessing that she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from her veteran father. Schenectady resident Elaine Perkins, age 61, pleaded guilty to grand larceny in Schenectady County Court on Monday, March 4. Prosecutors said Perkins stole more than $300,000 from her elderly father over the course of several years after he was diagnosed with dementia and named her as his power of attorney in 2018. A Navy veteran from the Hudson Valley who had a crucial role in a Northern Westchester business is being remembered for his kind heart. Orange County resident Eugene “Gene” Guido of Highland Mills, died peacefully at the age of 57 while surrounded by family members on Friday, Feb. 16, according to his obituary. Ring Stolen From Dead Veteran Returned To Family; Springfield Nursing Assistant Charged
A wedding ring stolen from a recently deceased veteran in Hampden County has been returned to the man's family after a Massachusetts State Trooper tracked it to a pawn shop. A nursing assistant who'd helped care for the man admitted to taking the ring and selling it, authorities said.
