The break happened on Route 61 near ABC Roofing around 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, according to the Reading Area Water Authority. Residents in the Northeast area of the city are expected to have low water pressure or no water at all, officials said. Water should be restored soon. A boil water notice was issued to the areas where water service was disrupted.

Water Main Break Leads To Early Dismissal At Westlake HS, MS A water main break has resulted in early dismissals at a high school and middle school in Westchester. The break "involves a significant 12-inch pipe that has no timeline for completion," Mount Pleasant Central School Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo said in an email to the community late Thursday morning, May 12.  Giarrizzo said there is currently no water at both Westlake High School, Westlake Middle School and the district office. The hole first appeared the morning of July 14 when the paved road gave way and a parked car sank about halfway into the hole. No one was injured in the surprise incident, said Erin Hastings, executive director of Westcomm Regional Dispatch. It is not clear what caused the sinkhole to open, but Hastings said dispatch was made aware of a nearby water main break that may have had something to do with it.
