Many Still Without Power After Strong Storms Rip Through Fairfield County
Hundreds in Connecticut are still without power following a spate of strong thunderstorms that struck the area.
As of 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 375 of Eversource’s customers were still without power, while 424 of United Illuminating customers were reporting outages.
On Monday, more than 5,000 outages were reported throughout Connecticut.
In Fairfield County, outages were still reported in Brookfield, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, Newtown, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Shelton, Straton, Weston, and Westport.

Hundreds remain without power in Fairfield County after severe storms tore through the region.
As for 9 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 1,387 of Eversource’s 1,274,935 customers in Connecticut remained in the dark, while 190 of United Illuminating’s 334,788 customers were still without power, due to 25 reported outages.
Norwalk was hit the hardest, with 514 customers still reporting outages on Monday morning. Other communities hit in the area include Westport (399 outages); New Canaan (130); Stamford (110) Weston (39); Darien (27); Wilton (16); Ridgefield, Redding, and New Fairfield.

Thousands of residents in Fairfield County are without power after a quick moving round of isolated thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing down trees and tree limbs on Sunday afternoon, June 30.
In addition, a stretch of southbound I-95 is closed in Darien due to a downed tree.
Norwalk has the most customers without power with 1,898 just before 4 p.m., followed by Westport with 1,262 and Stamford at 1,099.

Mary E. McDermott, known to everyone as “Polly,” died peacefully with her daughters at her side at the age of 87 on Feb. 27, 2019 at Broad Creek Care Center in Hilton Head, SC.
