Man Wanted In Brooklyn Stabbings Arrested In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford Police arrested a man wanted for two stabbings in Brooklyn during a raid on Wednesday, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police told the Stamford Advocate that Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad members conducted a drug raid on a Hall Place home at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, during which 25-year-old Justin Velez was apprehended. Stamford Police were then contacted by the Brooklyn Warrant Squad, informing them that Velez was wanted on a felony arrest warrant in connection with two stabbings, according to the Stamford Advocate. 22-Year-Old Danbury Woman Charged With Abandoning Baby Behind Market DANBURY, Conn. -- A Danbury woman has been charged with abandoning her newborn baby behind a supermarket on Main Street in May, police said. At 11:38 p.m. Sunday, May 21, Danbury Police received a 911 call reporting that someone had found an abandoned baby near the Polla Supermarket on Main Street. Officers arrived and were directed to the back of the Zaytuna Grocery Store, where they found a newborn baby boy wrapped in several pieces of women's clothing. Cyclist Injured After Being Hit By Car In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. — A bicyclist was taken to the hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Norwalk on Wednesday, according to the Hour. The accident took place on Main Street near the intersection with Broad Street at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Hour reported. Norwalk Doctors Charged with Operating 'Pill Mill,' Health Care Fraud NORWALK, Conn. -- Two doctors with a medical practice in Norwalk have been charged with writing opioid prescriptions in exchange for cash, as well as health care fraud and money laundering. Storm Knocks Out Power To Half Of Weston WESTON, Conn. -- Thursday afternoon's storms knocked out power to half of all Eversource customers in Weston. As of 6 p.m., Eversource reported that 1,926 customers out of a total of 3,835 in Weston were without power, representing 50 percent of all customers. Surrounding towns were not nearly as affected, with many Fairfield County towns experiencing fewer than 1 percent of customers without power.

Flash Flood, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Issued For Fairfield County FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A flash flood watch and a severe thunderstorm warning are both in effect for Fairfield County Thursday afternoon. Air Quality Alert Issued For New Canaan As Humid Day Gives Way To Storms FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- An air quality alert has been issued for Fairfield County Thursday, which is expected to be warm and humid with the possibility of thunderstorms and flooding later in the day. Registration Open For New Canaan Flag Football NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Registration is now open for the New Canaan Flag Football League's 2017 season. The league is accepting players from grades two through 12 this year. To enhance the program, the league is adding an all-girl league for grades four through six, as well as coed high school league for players in grades 10 through 12 called Friday Night Lights.
