Rain Could Lead To Flooding In New Canaan Ahead Of Mostly Clear Weekend FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County will continue to receive heavy rainfall Friday morning that could lead to flooding, but it should taper off by the afternoon. Monroe To Get A Roundabout At Intersection Of Routes 110 And 111 MONROE, Conn. -- Construction of a traffic roundabout at the intersection of Routes 110 and 111 in Monroe is scheduled to begin next week and last through October 2018. The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that the project is set to begin on Monday, July 10 and run through Oct. 9, 2018. The project consists of the construction of a modern traffic roundabout at the intersection of Route 110 (Shelton Road) and Route 11 (Monroe Turnpike). Wilton Woman Was Caught On Video Hitting Another Person, Police Say WILTON, Conn. — Police arrested a Wilton woman after she was seen on video assaulting another person in a domestic dispute, according to the Hour. Police told the Hour that 34-year-old Carolyn Cassetta was involved in a dispute with the other person that grew heated. At one point, the other person took out a phone and began to film Cassetta, the Hour reported. Eversource To Conduct Transmission Maintenance Work In Monroe MONROE, Conn. -- Eversource will begin transmission maintenance work in Monroe Thursday that is expected to last a day or two. The work will start Thursday and will last through Friday, and possibly Saturday if there is any remaining work to be done. Former Newtown Teacher Sentenced For Looking Through Neighbor's Window NEWTOWN, Conn. -- A former Newtown High School teacher and coach was sentenced after police said he went onto his neighbor's property and looked through a window, according to WLAD. Julian Curtiss School In Greenwich Broken Into And Vandalized GREENWICH, Conn. — Someone broke into the Julian Curtiss School in Greenwich and caused some damage, according to Greenwich Time. The break-in was reported at about 8:45 a.m., Greenwich Time reported. Police told Greenwich Time that one or more persons went into the school and did some damage and went through offices. Norwalk Man Tries To Flee Cops On Bike, Gets Arrested On Drug Charges NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk man tried to escape police on his bicycle but was eventually caught and found to have heroin and a knife on him, according to the Hour. Monroe Man Found Hiding In Bushes Had Drugs, BB Gun, Police Say MONROE, Conn. -- A Monroe man was arrested after police found him hiding in bushes with drugs and a BB gun this past weekend, according to the Monroe Courier. Bridgeport Man Found Guilty Of Norwalk Home Invasion, Assault Of Girlfriend NORWALK, Conn. — A jury found a Bridgeport man guilty of breaking into a Norwalk girlfriend's home and viscously beating her, according to the Stamford Advocate. Nector Marrero, 34, was convicted of home invasion, burglary and assault after 90 minutes of deliberation by the jury, according to the Stamford Advocate. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, and as much as 50 years, the Stamford Advocate reported.
