The car had left the roadway and hit a tree, and was fully involved when firefighters arrived, according to fire officials. The driver of the car was helped out by a resident and taken to the hospital. Old Redding Road was closed for the duration of the incident.

Purses Snatched From Cars At Merwin Meadows In Wilton WILTON, Conn. -- Someone broke into three cars and stole purses at Merwin Meadows Park in Wilton last week, police said. The burglaries happened within a short time frame on Monday, May 1 at around 5 p.m. The last of the three cars was parked at 5 p.m., and a witness noticed that one of the cars had a broken window at 5:15 p.m. There are no suspects at this time, police said.
