Bridgeport Police: Robbery Suspect Shoots Himself While Resisting Arrest BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — An armed robbery suspect shot himself in the leg while struggling to avoid being arrested in Bridgeport on Monday night, according to police. Police said that just before 9 p.m. the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Steven Nieves, entered a store at 375 Capitol Ave., where he displayed a gun and ordered the store clerk to turn over money. New Canaan Firefighters Assist In Battling Wilton Inferno WILTON, Conn. -- A home on Shadow Lane in Wilton was destroyed when a fire ripped through it Thursday evening. Fire officials told the Wilton Bulletin that the cause of the fire was still under investigation. Because there are no fire hydrants in the area, water tankers from Norwalk, Westport, Weston, New Canaan, Georgetown and Ridgefield all responded to provide mutual aid, for a total of 30 to 35 firefighters, the Wilton Bulletin reported. Stratford Sex Offender Who Tried To Entice Teen Girl Arrested Again STRATFORD, Conn. -- A convicted sex offender from Stratford was arrested after reportedly failing to notify police of his current address, according to the Connecticut Post.Ivan Butts, 39, of Stratford had been convicted in 2007 of trying to entice a teenage girl from Newtown to have sex with him, the Connecticut Post reported. Darien Police Welcome Two New K-9 Officers DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Police Department has two new furry officers protecting the community, as two new K-9 Teams have been placed into service this past month.
