Norwalk Man Charged In Darien Bar Fight That Left Two Injured DARIEN, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested last week in connection with a bar fight in Darien that left one person with severe facial injuries, police said. Christopher Aikler, 43, of Norwalk was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault and breach of peace. He posted a $15,000 bond and will appear in court on Jan. 23. Monroe First Selectman Vavrek Won't Seek Re-Election In 2017 MONROE, Conn. -- Monroe First Selectman Steve Vavrek announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election this year. Vavrek has served as first selectman since he was first elected in 2009. Handicap Van Stolen From Stratford Family Recovered In Bridgeport STRATFORD, Conn. -- A handicap-accessible van stolen last week from a family in Stratford was recovered in Bridgeport Thursday, according to the Stratford Star. The van had been stolen from the Ruby Lane driveway of the McDowell family in the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 6. Masuk High Student Suspended Amid Investigation Into Social Media Posts MONROE, Conn. — A junior has been suspended at Masuk High School in Monroe after fellow students accused him of posting offensive material on social media and even started an online petition calling for his removal from the school, according to Fox 61. 76-Year-Old New Jersey Man Killed In Rollover On Merritt NORWALK, Conn. — A 76-year-old New Jersey man was killed in a rollover accident on the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk near the Westport border Wednesday morning, state police told the Connecticut Post.
