Former Owner Of Danbury Pet Shop Sentenced For Animal Cruelty Charges DANBURY, Conn. -- The former owner of a pet store in Danbury pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges and has been sentenced to probation with special conditions, according to Yorktown News. Richard Doyle, 56 of Mahopac, pleaded guilty to five counts of animal cruelty charges on Dec. 2 in Danbury Superior Court, Yorktown News reported. He was sentenced to three years' probation, was ordered to have no affiliation with a pet store or rescue shelter, and was required to donate $5,000 to Second Chance Rescue, according to Yorktown News. The lawsuit was filed by Lauren E. Sorgen and her husband Grant D.
