Norwalk Police Arrest Four In Drug Raid NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police arrested four people on drug charges Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation. Christopher Adams, 47, of Norwalk; Andre Bjorntzen, 31, of Norwalk; Akeem McBride, 30, of Bridgeport; and Vincent Smith, 22, of Norwalk, were all arrested on multiple drug charges, including possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession within 1,500 feet of a school, and risk of injury to a minor. Norwalk Police Identify Homicide Victim Found On Leonard Street NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police have identified the victim of Thursday morning's fatal shooting as Jimmy Martinez, 43, of Norwalk. Martinez was shot and killed at about 2:16 a.m. Thursday on Leonard Street near Isaac Street, police said. Officers who arrived on the scene attempted to provide medical aid to Martinez but discovered that he was deceased, police said. Police Investigate Norwalk's First Homicide Since October 2012 NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are investigating the shooting death of a man found on Leonard Street early Thursday by a passing motorist. Police received a call from a driver who reported seeing a man down in the area of Isaac Street at 2:16 a.m. Thursday. Norwalk Police Pay Tribute To Fallen Officers NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty were honored at a ceremony outside the Norwalk Police Department on Wednesday, May 14. Four Norwalk police officers have died in the line of duty. Sgt. Frank Stratton was killed in 1930 when hit by a car while taking two suspects into custody. RTM Scrutinizes Darien Budget Before Approving It DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien's approved budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year includes funds to manage town facilities and better handle special education. But it was met with some resistance by members of the Representative Town Meeting before it was approved Monday night. The $133 million budget includes $44.96 million for town expenses and $88.14 million for school spending. The mill rate will increase from 13.17 mills to 15.01 mills. Darien Woman Scammed Out Of $2,000 By Fake Kidnappers DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien woman was scammed out of $2,000 by people claiming they had kidnapped her brother, according to police. The 28-year-old woman received a call from someone on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 6, claiming that they had been in a car accident with her brother and were holding him hostage until they got money to repair the damage, police said. Darien RTM Approves $133 Million Town, School Budget DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien's spending will increase 5.89 percent next year after the Representative Town Meeting approved a $133 million budget Monday night. The town's mill rate in the 2014-15 fiscal year will increase from 13.17 mills to 15.01 mills as a result of the approval. This means that residents will pay $15.01 for every $1,000 of assessed property value. This year's budget includes $44.96 million for town expenses and $88.14 for school expenses. Needle Found On Darien's Tokeneke School Playground DARIEN, Conn. -- A hypodermic needle was found on the playground of Tokeneke Elementary School in Darien on Sunday morning, according to police. The needle was found about 11:30 a.m. in a mulched area on the south side of the playground by a resident whose children were playing at the time. Man Charged With Trying To Stop Traffic In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- A New York man was arrested in Darien after police said he was seen trying to stop traffic with a broomstick. Jason Rosenthal, 22, of New York, was arrested on Friday, May 9, and charged with breach of peace and reckless use of a highway by a pedestrian. He posted a $500 bond and will appear in court on Monday, May 19. Shotgun Shell Found At Cherry Lawn Park In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- A young girl found a live shotgun shell while playing at Cherry Lawn Park, Darien police said. A Norwalk resident reported that he and his granddaughter were playing at the park on Tuesday, May 6, when she found the shell, police said. Police said the shotgun shell was found near the tennis courts. The shell was a black Remington 12-gauge round, police said. There is no hunting in the area, and police are investigating the matter.
