Norwalk Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Christmas Eve Shooting NORWALK, Conn. -- An 18-year-old Norwalk man was charged with attempted murder Tuesday in a shooting that occurred on Christmas Eve. Jean Louis-Finn was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a gun without a permit and first-degree reckless endangerment. Darien Police Warn Of Tax Collection Phone Scams DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien Police are warning residents about a phone scam targeting taxpayers in Darien and surrounding communities. In this latest scam, victims receive a phone call from somebody claiming to work for the Internal Revenue Service, police said. The caller will tell the intended victim that they owe tax money, and that it must be paid through a pre-loaded debit card or a wire transfer. Norwalk Tax Preparer Weathers Storm Of Deadline To File Returns NORWALK, Conn. -- The deadline to file tax returns is always a busy day for people like Ruben Baker, owner and broker at Liberty Tax on Main Avenue in Norwalk. "Everybody loves to do it at the last minute," Baker said with a smile. "We try to service everyone as best we can." Police Charge Health Care Workers With Scamming Clients NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police arrested two home health care workers Monday, April 15, in separate cases of elderly residents getting scammed. Tammy Jones, 36, of Bridgeport was charged with third-degree forgery and first-degree larceny. She was held on a $10,000 bond. Kymber Moore, 52, of Norwalk was charged with first-degree larceny, fraudulent use of an ATM and credit card theft. She was held on a $5,000 bond. Police: Norwalk Shoppers Tackle Shoplifting Suspect NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man suspected of shoplifting was stopped by Walmart customers, according to police. Ricky Ferrara, 51, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, fifth-degree larceny and third-degree assault. He was held on a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on April 23. Employees of the Walmart on Connecticut Avenue told police that Ferrara had tried to leave the store with $978 worth of clothing and electronics in a shopping cart Saturday afternoon. Police: Elderly Darien Man Scammed By Phony IRS Agent DARIEN, Conn. -- An elderly Darien man was scammed out of nearly $3,000 by someone claiming to be from the IRS, police said. The man received a call the morning of Wednesday, April 9, from the number 202-239-6612. The man told police the caller identified himself as "Nick Ray," had a heavy Indian accent and claimed he worked for the IRS. Elderly Norwalk Man Hit By Car Gets Ticket From Police NORWALK, Conn. -- A 71 year-old Norwalk man was given a ticket after being struck by a car while crossing the street early Monday morning, police said. The man was crossing the street at Scribner Avenue and Connecticut Avenue at about 5:40 a.m. Monday when he was hit by the car, police said.
