Republican incumbents Joe Canella and Marlane Amelio are running against Democratic challengers Rosemarie Varano and Margaret Pritchard. During the forum they addressed accusations that Harrison's budgetary process needs to be changed in order to curb spending. A Year After Sandy, Some Work In Sound Shore Still Incomplete RYE, N.Y. -- Much of the cleanup in the Sound Shore towns has been completed since Hurricane Sandy hit a year ago, but there is still some work that remains to be done. Rye Playland sustained heavy damage from the storm. Trees were knocked down, metal fences were bent and broken by strong winds, and concrete slabs were thrown around the park. Chunks of wood were taken out of the boardwalk, and the north boardwalk adjacent to the park was completely destroyed.
