Rye's Osborn School Unveils Japanese Garden RYE, N.Y. -- Osborn School in Rye unveiled a Japanese garden in the interior courtyard to provide students a peaceful, natural environment in which to study. The garden was created through the collaboration of the Gardening Committee and the Japanese PTO. The committee met with Taro Ietaka, a director at the Rye Nature Center, who connected them with Kohtaro Tanaka, a Rye High School student and Life Scout. Norovirus Confirmed As Source Of Westchester Hilton Illnesses RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- The virus that left more than 100 people sick at the Westchester Hilton in April has been confirmed as Norovirus, the Westchester County Department of Health announced Wednesday. More than 100 people reported becoming ill after attending events at the Hilton Westchester Hotel in Rye Brook around the weekend of April 20. One person was hospitalized, health department spokesman Caren Halbfinger said at the time. Port Chester Increases Parking Meter Fees And Hours PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- It will soon cost Port Chester residents and other visitors more to park their cars at a meter downtown. The Board of Trustees approved a a measure Monday to increase the rates and time of parking meters both on the street and in parking lots. Currently a quarter buys 20 minutes at a meter, but with this measure it will only buy 15 minutes, essentially raising the cost of parking from 75 cents per hour to $1 per hour. The board also extended the hours that parking meters will be in effect. Meters will be in effect until 9 p.m., rather than the current times of 6 p.m.…

Rye Shoots Down Bow Hunting Idea To Deal With Deer RYE, N.Y. -- Rye has decided not to go ahead with a proposed bow hunting program to cull its deer population.  The city had considered partnering with Westchester County to use bow hunters to hunt deer at the Jay Heritage Center and the Marshlands Conservancy, in the hope that it would reduce overpopulation.
