Rye Arts Center Hosts Free Instrument Workshop RYE, N.Y. -- If your child is interested in joining the school band or orchestra, they can get a sneak peek at what playing an instrument is like at the Rye Arts Center. The Arts Center will host a free family workshop titled "Meet the Instruments" this Sunday. Kids ages 8 and up can test out a variety of band and orchestra instruments and work with music instructors to find out which instrument is best for them. The workshop will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rye Arts Center, 51 Milton Road. Space is limited, so register on the Arts Center's website.

The Grammy-winning singer fuses traditional and contemporary Mexican songs with blues, jazz, soul and African roots to create her own unique sound. The New York Times has called her work "modern Mexican pop with a thrilling, chameleonic voice at its center." Downs will perform at the PepsiCo Theater at 8 p.m. Tickets are $27.50 to $42.50 and can be purchased online.

Shooting Involving Harrison Police Ruled Accidental HARRISON, N.Y. -- County officials have ruled that the shooting of a burglary suspect by a Harrison police lieutenant in October was accidental. Lt. Vito Castellano shot suspect Daniel DiBiase on Oct. 17 while officers were trying to arrest DiBiase in connection with a Sept. 3 burglary. DiBiase and two other suspects were wanted in connection with a series of home invasions, including one where $500,000 worth of jewelry was taken. The Westchester County Department of Public Safety conducted an extensive investigation into the incident and determined that Castellano fired his gun accidenta…
