Plastic From Bottled Water Entangles Seal On NJ Beach A Jersey Shore animal rehabilitation center rescued a baby seal tangled up in plastic wrapping from a case of bottled water. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said the female grey seal was found on the shore in Beach Haven at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. The pup was brought to MMSC's facility in Brigantine, and the plastic packaging was removed. The center's veterinarian examined the baby seal and found that the plastic had not cut into her neck. Violent Home Invasion Suspect Arrested In South Jersey A Galloway Township man was arrested after he broke into someone's home and fought the person living there, authorities said. Joseph Aversa, 41, was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, Absecon police said in a news release. Officers responded to a report of a home invasion on the 300 block of Spruce Street just before 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. Fugitive Jumps From Third-Floor Apartment, Arrested In Atlantic City Homicide: Police A man wanted for murder was arrested in Atlantic City after jumping from a third-story apartment to try and get away from police, authorities said. Jamar Jones, 35, of Atlantic City, was arrested at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. He was wanted in the Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 killing of Luis Rosa-Rodriguez. Three Arrested In Home Burglary In Atlantic City Three people were arrested in Atlantic City when police caught them burglarizing a home, authorities said. Female Business Owner Brutally Attacked By Man In South Jersey: Police A female business owner in Atlantic County was brutally attacked by a man who tried to sexually assault her, authorities said. Dashawn Cooper, 37, of Pleasantville was arrested on Monday, Feb. 19, the Absecon Police Department said in a news release. Teen's Friends Rush Him To Hospital After Shooting In Ocean County: Police A teen boy was injured in a late-night shooting in Ocean County, authorities said. Power Knocked Out For Hundreds In Eatontown, Crews Investigating More than 500 customers were without power in a Monmouth County borough, officials said. According to the outage map for Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), at least 585 customers lost electricity near the intersection of routes 35 and 36 in Eatontown, as of 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Eatontown police said it was unclear what caused the power outages but no vehicle crash had been reported. JCP&L crews were responding to the scene. JCP&L said power should be restored by around 2:30 p.m.

Man Stopped Moving Car, Threw Rocks In Attempted Atlantic County Carjacking: Police A Mays Landing man was arrested after he tried to steal someone's vehicle and threw rocks at it in Atlantic County, authorities said.
