George "Buddy" Grover, the long-time keeper of Absecon Lighthouse, has died at 96 years old, the Atlantic City landmark announced. A Jersey Shore man is arrested in connection with the death of another man who died early New Year's Day morning, authorities said. Carl Richards, 38, charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter after he assaulted his 64-year-old roommate George Mott III, who died from his injuries in Marlboro, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said on Friday, Jan. 5. Man Accused Of Grisly New Year's Day Murder In Atlantic City
A Cape May County man has been charged with stabbing another man to death in Atlantic City on New Year's Day. Atlantic County prosecutors said 30-year-old Vincent Oglesby of Woodbine was arrested in Pleasantville at around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Oglesby is accused of killing 50-year-old Richard Vincent O'Brien III by stabbing him in the neck. Atlantic City police found O'Brien bleeding on the unit block of South California Avenue just after 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1. An Atlantic City man was sentenced on Thursday, Jan, 4, to three years in state prison after police found him with a BB gun, heroin, and fentanyl in 2021, authorities said. Atlantic County prosecutors said 43-year-old Emmanuel Diaz had been convicted of third-degree unlawful possession of a BB gun. On Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, Atlantic City police saw Diaz walking near South Montpelier Avenue. TGI Fridays is closing nearly 30 "underperforming" locations across the northeast and will sell eight restaurants to the chain's former CEO, the chain said in a news release. The 27 closures include restaurants in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Keep an eye on the sky along the East Coast tonight. The first meteor shower of 2024, the Quadrantids, is expected to be visible overnight Wednesday, Jan. 3 and peak in the early in the morning hours on Thursday, Jan. 4. The American Meteor Society says the best time to catch a falling star in North America will be between 1 and 5 a.m. Astronomers consider the Quadrantids as one of the best annual meteor showers. Thieves Take Advantage Of Broken Lock At Jersey Shore Wawa: Police
Police are looking for the people responsible for taking advantage of a broken lock at a Wawa store in Wall Township early New Year's Day. Wall Township police say it happened in the Wawa at the corner of New Jersey Route 35 and Lakewood Road. Officers arrived at the store at around 2 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1. When officers got to the store, they found a note on the front door saying it was closed from 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve to 6 a.m. on New Year's Day.
