Forum On Police-Community Relations Held in West Nyack WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- A forum on improving police-community relations was held at the Palisades Center in West Nyack on Thursday, Nov. 12. Hosted by Rockland County District Attorney Tom Zugibe, the event brought together civic, youth, faith-based and law enforcement sectors to discuss ways to build trust and understanding between police and the area’s minority population. Keynote speakers at the forum included New York State Police Superintendent Joseph D'Amico and Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. Opening remarks were offered by County Executive Ed Day.

On Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the school will host both a chili cook-off and bake sale, the Pound Ridge Community Church Women's Cookie Walk. Kids can also go next door to the church parking lot for “Touch-a-Truck,” an event featuring a variety of large trucks. Music and face painting will be included at the festivities. Tickets are $10. Kids 9 and under are free-of-charge. Proceeds from the events will go to the church’s playground renovation fund.
