Teacher Sexually Abuses Underage Student At School On Long Island, Police Say A teacher at a Long Island school is accused of sexually abusing an underage student. William Sperl, age 60, of Deer Park, was arrested at the Eastern Suffolk BOCES campus in Bellport on Tuesday, Aug. 29, according to Suffolk County Police. Investigators said Sperl engaged in a sexual relationship with a female student at the school’s Riverhead campus, where he works as an audio production teacher, in 2020. Gilgo Beach Murders: Police Investigating Possible Link Between Alleged Killer, Missing Woman Authorities are investigating a possible connection between Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann and the disappearance of a South Carolina woman around six years ago. Julia Ann Bean was last seen in Sumter County, South Carolina on May 31, 2017. Her daughter reported her missing nearly six months later. Child Porn Bust: Capital Region Man Found With Illicit Images After Online Tip, Police Say A 41-year-old man from the region is facing charges after he was allegedly caught with child pornography. Saratoga County resident Luke Fletcher, of Saratoga Springs, was arrested Monday, Aug. 28, by New York State Police. According to troopers, the agency received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, prompting a search of Fletcher’s home. Tragic Development: 5-Year-Old Dies After Being Found Unresponsive In Pool On Long Island A 5-year-old boy has died one day after he was found unresponsive in a swimming pool on Long Island. Emergency crews were initially called at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, after the boy’s mother found him in the pool at their East Moriches home on Woodcrest Drive, according to Suffolk County Police. The 44-year-old woman performed CPR on the boy until medics arrived and took him to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.
